Dr. Harvey Sikes
Dr. Harvey Sikes was born on the Gulf coast in Mobile, Alabama. Growing up, he
attended an all-boys school for 12 years and enjoyed spending time with his dad
and two brothers camping, fishing for mackerel, hunting and water skiing. He also
traveled and learned a lot as a Boy Scout, and eventually attained Eagle Scout
status.
Dr. Sikes graduated from the University of Alabama where he enjoyed the Crimson
Tide’s winning football tradition during the days of Coach Bear Bryant – and also
met his future wife, Jane. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa, then completed medical
school at the University of Southern Alabama.
After four years as an Obstetrics and Gynecology resident at the Greenville Hospital
System, he started private practice in Greenville in 1990. He is a fellow of the
American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of the American
Medical Association and Phi Beta Kappa.
Dr. Sikes also is an accomplished gardener. Through his dad’s mentoring, (he
still gets weekly advice from his dad, who is approaching his 90th birthday) he
has received step-by-step instructions on starting asparagus plants, among many
others.
In addition to gardening, Dr. Sikes enjoys running, reading and watching movies.
Above all, he enjoys spending time with his family: wife Jane, and daughters Lucie,
11, Maggie, 16, and Katie, 20. He says he and his family love Greenville and have
enjoyed watching the rapid growth during the past two decades.
